For the last two seasons, Issa Rae has done an incredible job of portraying the semi-bougie, Black millennial experience. From brunches to bedrooms, Insecure is a must watch because it’s so relatable, and so on point. Season 1 was definitely full of gems, but this season, there were a couple of things that I think we should all take note of.
If you’ve been paying attention, there’s no question that you’ve heard of Ernestine Johnson. If you’re a social media Queen (or King) like me, you first came across this young lady on Instagram or maybe even Youtube. It seemed like everywhere I looked, I saw her video. She even became the topic of discussion in some of my groupchats with my besites, everyone praising her for her honesty, for her undeniable skill, for her raw talent.
Just when we thought Starbucks’ #RaceTogether campaign, Kanye West and the election of our nation’s first Black President had solved all of our race problems, here comes Deadline’s co-editor-in-chief, Nellie Andreeva, f*cking it up for all of us.
For those of you who missed this story, I am super excited to share it with you. A few weeks ago, a stomach turning post hit the internet and took on a life of its own. A person who apparently could use a few hugs posted this image on the messageboard 4chan:
“Spotted this specimen trying to dance. He stopped when he saw us laughing.”
