Black women create a LOT of content. From Youtube videos, to films, blogs, etc. We have a lot to say. Yet, when it comes to getting backed for personal projects, we’re often overlooked and undervalued. It seems that major brands just aren’t willing to put up the big bucks when Black women are sharing authentic content. That’s why attending the #BeautifullyDriven event last night, here in ATL was so refreshing. It restored my hope that larger companies are beginning to see what an asset Black women are when it comes to story telling and creating content that sparks people’s interest.
It started off with what I thought was a joke, but alas! The male romper is a thing that has taken flight. Here I was, minding my Twitter business, when I was bombarded with images of men in rompers, quadriceps flexin’. I wondered, were #RompHims taking over for the 99 and the 2017?
I am so excited to be covering Cocktails with Claire Sulmers & Miss Diddy this weekend, here in Atlanta! These girls are doing big things, and they have been for awhile now. Sulmers, who is a Harvard graduate, and is fluent in French, has an AMAZING resume. You can read it here. Miss Diddy is equally impressive, a self made woman, who happens to be the ONLY woman party promoter in Hollywood. She is also a Hennessy (my favorite drink) Key Account Manager.
And while these ladies live two different lives on two different coasts, they both have one very important thing in common–fashion. They are INCREDIBLY fashionable.
Some people just have “it.” You can’t buy “it.” You can’t rent “it.” It’s a natural, God-given, innate thing that some people have and the rest of us just don’t. And that’s OK. Everything isn’t for everybody. But this brother right here, he’s one of the lucky ones. Meet Terrell P.
Ever meet someone who looks like art? Like they’re so well put together-everything they wear, do and say-it seems so cool, yet so natural…and you’re always like, “Why didn’t I think of that?” I guess that’s kinda how you have to be when you’re a fashion stylist. I mean, it doesn’t hurt to be…FASHIONABLE…on the cutting edge…able to see the world how most people can’t. Well that’s exactly what Aaron Tucker is-a creative in every sense of the word-an enigma, perhaps. He could absolutely sit down for a drink with Cher in Manhattan, and then the next minute, be posted up at the bar being super cool and straight out of a music video with his boys in Harlem. (And yes, I meant THAT Cher. He helped style her.) You just never know with this guy. But to me, that’s the beauty of it all. And anyway, I think he’s definitely worth knowing. Check out my interview with him below.
Oh my God! Do you guys remember when I told you about the BalmainxH&M collab? Yea, it’s pretty exciting news, right? Well, the collection has finally been released, and things have gotten WAY out of control in H&M stores all over the country. I simply need H&M to do BETTER.
On November 5th, I’m pretty sure every H&M in the world is going to need extra security. Like, heavy duty. Something tells me that this new Balmain H&M collection is going to send everyone into a tizzy. I mean, realistically, it already has.
Every once in a while, you’ll have the pleasure of meeting someone who’s super talented. Every now and again, you’ll have the opportunity to meet someone else who is extremely passionate. At some point in life, you’ll meet someone who really, truly cares about people and their well-being…and occasionally, you’ll find someone who puts a smile on the face of any and everyone they come into contact with. But it’s rare–very rare that you’ll meet someone who possesses all those qualities and more. Today, that’s why I want to introduce you to Fashion Expert, Shayla Courtney. Thank me later.
Just when I was starting to be OK with how loudly my biological clock is ticking, I came across this video and now I feel like I need to have a baby ASAP. Anybody willing to help a sistah out? I’m kidding!…I think. The truth is, this video of Tyra has me feeling some kind of way! Damn you, Tyra!
