Chris Brown, Soulja Boy, Violence, and How Social Media Ruined Celebrity

The great prophet Puff Daddy P. Diddy Sean Combs warned us back in 2009 of the b*tchassness epidemic sweeping the nation-unfortunately, none of us took him seriously. Almost a decade later, here we are, glued to our phones, watching Chris Brown and Soulja Boy threaten each other across the interwebs. In our defense, who among us could’ve ever predicted n*ggas would take it this far? We’re sorry, Puff.

10 Celebs I Like More After Social Media, 8 Celebs I Like Less, & 6 I Wish I Didn’t Follow

We all have our favorite celebrities. Some we like more than others. But let’s be honest, social media has really changed the way we look at some of our faves. Social media has allowed us to really get inside famous people’s heads…and sometimes, to be quite frank, I wish we didn’t have this kind of access.

Star Studded Summer Sizzle BVI Launch Party in NYC

This week, the Summer Sizzle BVI Launch Party took place at the Ricco Maresca Gallery in New York. Empire stars Taraji P. Henson and Jussie Smollett, hosted the event, and per usual, they both looked stunning.

In addition to good company and great conversation, attendees also got an opportunity to enjoy the refreshing taste of Myx Moscato. Now, I’m usually not a moscato girl, but after trying it, I’ll definitely be indulging more often.

Fashion and media influencers included Ty Hunter, Raquel Smith, Cori Murray, Demetria Lucas D’Oyley, Memsor Kamarake, Ashunta Sheriff, Satchel Jester, and more.

Mariah Carey Sings Mariah Carey Songs in The Passenger Seat W/James Corden

I don’t know about you guys, but I was OBSESSED with Mariah Carey in her “hey day.” Homegirl used to dish out those #1 hits left and right. From “Always Be My Baby” to “Honey”, Mariah really helped me get my life as a young, chunky brown girl who probably had too much time on her hands. *shrug* What I loved about Mariah was her ability to hit that super high note. It was magical.

As the years went on, Mariah started to lose her magic. Weird things started happening, and for a while there, she had us all terrified. She went on to marry Nick Cannon (I’m still trying to figure that out), and unfortunately, the marriage ended in a nasty divorce, BUT not before Mariah gave birth to two beautiful babies.

Things got even more strange when we saw pictures of Mariah riding around on the New York subway with a prom dress on. That will definitely go down on a page in the book of “Things That Make You Go Hmmmm.”

But NOW, it looks like Mariah may be getting better. There’s a super cool Youtube video of her singing her own songs on the Late Late Show with James Corden. This is a must-see. Check it out!

Sidenote: Do we still not know what happened to Mariah’s hand??

I’m Starting to Wonder About the Sanity of the Beyhive: When Celeb Worship Goes Too Far

Hmmmm…

As I sit in front of my computer and type this, I can’t help but be…disturbed. I mean, I knew it was bad, but I never thought there would come a day when I felt the need to actually WRITE about how unruly some members of the “Beyhive” (Beyonce’s overzealous fanbase) can be.
