Donald Trump’s Comment to Jorge Ramos Was Exactly What I Thought It Was-Racist

As the #GOPClownCar gets more and more attention, it’s become quite clear to most Americans that Donald Trump is the ringleader. Yea. He keeps shit goin’. Yep, he’s giving everybody a run for their money and “Making America Great Again” as he would put it. But most of us with any good sense at all know EXACTLY what that means when it’s coming out of Donald Trump’s mouth. Translation: “Making America more Racist, Sexist, Classist and Intolerant Again.” Trump’s most recent aggression was aimed at esteemed journalist, Jorge Ramos. His suggestion to Mr. Ramos? “Go back to Univision.”

When I first heard Trump’s comment, of course I was disgusted. That kind of jargon was all too familiar.

Donald wasn’t fooling anyone. We knew what he meant when he yelled, “Go back to Univision!” For those of you who aren’t familiar, Univision is an American Spanish language broadcast television network.

Though many Trump supporters brushed it off as simply Trump being Trump, we now have real proof that his comments WERE completely about race.

“Get out of MY country?”

This is actually hard to watch.

There are a few things that I want to address about this:

-Notice the use of the word “my.” That is a characteristic of white male privilege. Assuming ownership of EVERYTHING. Even though this country has NEVER belonged to him or his forefathers.

-Assuming that this is not Jorge’s country too. He IS an American citizen, after all.

-Many conservatives and extreme right wing nut jobs like to cite our “Founding Fathers” when they discuss policies, social issues, etc. They also often challenge other people’s “patriotism.” Is this how you would treat another fellow American in this great melting pot of a country, we call home? Not very “patriotic.”

-Many of these people claim to be “Christians.” This behavior isn’t very Christian like. The complete opposite, really.

What this is is blatant disrespect, intolerance and hate towards another human being based on their race/ethnicity. What this man said is what Donald Trump wanted to say, but couldn’t. This is what Donald Trump stands for. This is what his supporters stand for. So my advice? If you see someone expressing their love for Donald Trump via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram…UNFRIEND THEM. If you see a Donald Trump bumper sticker, speed up. If you see a Donald Trump lawn sign, don’t walk near their grass. And for Christ’s sake if you ever come face to face with a Donald Trump supporter, stop, drop and roll. It’s only a matter of time before sh*t will go up in flames.
