If you’re not familiar with the Griswolds, then you probably had a terrible childhood. Ok. That was a bit harsh. But let’s just say, it probably wasn’t as fulfilled. I mean, this is an American classic. And although most of us feared that a remake would ruin its legacy, “Vacation” actually did quite the opposite. Reviving old memories, and creating new ones, this movie is one for the history books.
First of all, I think the casting for this film was brilliant. Ed Helms (Russell Griswold) and Christina Applegate (Debbie Griswold) really took the cake with their performances. And their kids, played by Steele Stebbins and Skyler Gisondo were also genius!
Here’s the deal: I haven’t laughed this hard in years…about anything. I can’t remember the last time I’ve watched a movie and laughed from beginning to end. Literally. It may have had something to do with the wine, but I’ve been sad while drinking wine, so I don’t think that’s what happened here. I was happy and laughed until my stomach hurt.
I was also excited to see my girl Regina Hall and my buddy Keegan-Michael Key (of Key and Peele) make a guest appearance as the Griswold’s good friends “The Petersons.”
And believe or not, not only did we all laugh our heads off, we actually learned a thing or two from the Griswolds. All in all, I give this movie an A+++. It’s a must-see.
Per usual, the advanced movie screening was a star studded occasion thanks to the 135th Street Agency, and BOSSIP so here are a few pics from the night. VIP guests included:
Yung Joc and KD (VH1’s Love and Hip Hop ATL), Ryan Cameron (V103) & Janee Bolden (Editor of Bossip), Dice Dixon (VH1’s LaLa’ Full Court) & Gocha, Egypt Sherrod (Media Personality), Mushiya (WE TV’s Cutting it in the ATL), Shay (VH1’s Flava of Love and LHHATL), and Melissa Knowles (Media Personality)
“Vacation” hits theaters on July 29th. Get ready for an adventure!
