Gov. Nikki Haley Takes Action to Remove the Confederate Flag This Friday

Today, Gov. Nikki Haley ordered the removal of the Confederate flag from the lawn of the South Carolina statehouse — putting an end to an emotional and (unnecessarily) long debate.

The flag will be removed tomorrow at 10 am. It will then be taken to the Confederate Relic Room and Military Museum…where it belongs.

“Today, as the Senate did before them, the House of Representatives has served the State of South Carolina and her people with great dignity,” Haley said in a statement after the House vote. “I’m grateful for their service and their compassion. It is a new day in South Carolina, a day we can all be proud of, a day that truly brings us all together as we continue to heal, as one people and one state.”

The flag has been up since the 1960’s as a symbol of protest against the Civil Rights movement. (That’s not racist at all)

I for one, am glad the flag is coming down. Here are 6 reasons why:

1.We had something called the Civil War. The confederates lost.

2.The Union was for NO slavery. The Confederacy was FOR slavery. We don’t like slavery.

3. Robert E. Lee, a Confederate general refused to be buried in his Confederate uniform. He basically said that anyone who flew the flag after the war was committing treason. He’s right.

4. It’s a part of history, but a terrible part of history. Should we wave the Nazi flag as well? It belongs in a museum. That’s it.

6. When I see it, it makes my stomach hurt.

Way to go Gov. Nikki for taking this first major step toward progress.
