It was his desire to be funnier, quicker and sharper that anyone else that got him here, Brian Williams told Matt Lauer in a candid interview. This is the first interview that Williams has done since his fall from grace. You may remember Williams as the nice guy anchor who seemingly had it all figured out. Little did we know, some things from his past would come back to haunt him, and instead of covering a story on other people, people would soon be covering stories on HIM.

I think we were all kind of shocked when Williams was suspended in February after revealing that he had greatly embellished a story about a 2003 mission in Iraq. Williams had told the public that his helicopter had been fired at, and apparently, that simply was not true.

As a journalist, I have to say I’m kind of disappointed in the guy. He should know better than anyone that if there’s any dirt to be found…it WILL be found! Honestly, I’m not sure how the public will receive him when he returns. His credibility is ruined as far as I’m concerned. And I don’t say that because I think that once you’ve told a lie that you’ll lie about everything else…I say that because as a JOURNALIST, lying is something you just can’t do and expect people to take you seriously moving forward.

What are your thoughts? Should we just forgive and forget?
