On May 14th, Blues legend B.B. King passed away in his Las Vegas home at the age of 89. Most of us, although saddened by the news, attributed King’s death to old age. Now, King’s daughters, Karen Williams and Patty King are alleging that there was some foul play associated with their father’s passing.
“I believe my father was poisoned and that he was administered foreign substances.”
Patty King and Karen Williams made those statements in affidavits provided to The Associated Press by their lawyer, Larissa Drohobyczer.
King’s daughters are accusing Myron Johnson (King’s assistant) and LaVerne Toney (King’s business manager) of murder, suggesting that the two had something to gain by King’s death. Toney is listed in King’s will as executor of his estate, and according to ABC news, the estate is worth tens of millions of dollars.
Apparently, Toney isn’t phased by the accusations, stating that the kids have been making those kinds of accusations for years.
An April 29th, a petition alleged that Toney had blocked King’s friends from visiting him and had put her family members on King’s payroll. It also alleged that large sums of money had disappeared from King’s bank accounts with no explanation.
An autopsy was performed on King’s body, however results won’t be available for another eight weeks.
Preliminary autopsy reports do not support his daughter’s claims, nor is there an active homicide investigation. Police also note there is no evidence to support their claims. However, police say that they are taking their claims seriously.
King had 15 children from several different relationships. Eleven of those children are still living.
To be honest, none of this shocks me one bit. Reminds me of another popular “King” family that shall remain nameless.
