In the richest nation in the world, 1 in 3 children live in poverty. Every night, some of these children go to bed hungry. Many of their parents cannot afford proper medical treatment, let alone new clothes or toys…you know, the stuff children are supposed to have. Taking it a bit further, nearly 1/2 of the world’s population (more than 3 billion people) live on less than $2.50 a day. 805 million people all over the world don’t have enough food to eat, and 750 million don’t have access to clean drinking water.
Red Nose Day seeks to change all of that. I have a real soft spot for people living in these underserved communities. I think it’s time we realize that not everyone who is living in poverty is “lazy” or a “menace to society.” Some of these people simply need a helping hand, and I support this initiative 100%!
“We believe in a just world free from poverty and use the power of entertainment to create positive change in the world.”
The Red Nose Day concert will definitely be star-studded. Check out this cool video from the cast of Orange is the New Black.
