Finding something interesting to do with our Wednesday nights has been quite a task since the first season of Empire wrapped. We’ve all been looking over our shoulders for any sign of any word about Empire. Things just haven’t been the same since Lucious and Cookie left us hanging. But luckily, those days are over.
Yesterday, it was announced that the hit series’ second season has been confirmed for 18 episodes. The first season only consisted of 12 episodes, so this is great news! Lee Daniels must really have some stuff up his sleeve this go round! Part 1 of the show will air in the fall, and Part 2 will be on in the spring. So basically, he’s giving us a break in between to get our thoughts together.
More episodes aren’t the only addition to the blockbuster series. Word on the street is that singer Ne-Yo will be coming on board as a music producer alongside Timbaland. This soundtrack is going to be bananas! Ne-Yo will not be appearing on the show, however. I’m a little disappointed. I’d like to see Ne-Yo in an acting role at some point.
But that’s not all! It’s been reported that a fourth son will be added to the cast next season. The son, played by Zac Efron of all people, will be Lucious’ long lost love child. Talk about a plot twist! Also in the mix, Chris Rock, Lenny Kravitz and Alicia Keys!
The show will maintain its Wednesday at 9 PM time slot when it premieres this fall.
