Facebook Says Your Friends Can Still Interact w/You When You’re Dead

Well…kinda. Facebook has announced a new functionality that will allow a “legacy contact” to operate your Facebook page, even after you’ve passed away.

This addition to the site will give that contact the ability to post on your behalf. All though this person will have control over your account, they will not be able to access your Facebook messages. *wipes forehead* However, they will be able to update your status and your profile pic.

Uh…the idea is nice. Really it is. But I can’t help but to feel like it’s kinda creepy. If my friend dies, I can’t say that I’d WANT to interact with their page. There are people that I know who have gone on to a better place, and I REFUSE to go to their pages…like ever again. But everybody isn’t as weird as me, so this may actually be a good idea.

I guess this could provide your friends with a feeling of closure, that they may not have had otherwise. My only piece of advice to you would be to choose someone who REALLY loves you. Someone who won’t put up a pic of you when you were having a bad hair day, or wearing fugly dress.

What do you think? Would you be willing to make someone your Legacy Contact?
